So, I've been working shitkicker jobs since I was 18, most of which I've hated. Being forced to take shit from other people and customers who abuse you just because they can be maddening. Being under the thumb of a boss who not only takes his/her job way to seriously, but thinks that threatening to fire me is actually intimidating.
There are also the people who act like jerks because they see the job I do as lowly compared to what they do for a living. These are the people who drive cars that are bigger than what they can handle, talk on their cellphones constantly as if they were important and generally expect everyone else to kiss their ass because they have a bit of money (or pass off a good front).
However, with these recent economic troubles, many people who have held high paying jobs that give them high social status are finding themselves without a job and often out on their asses when they lose their house. But I keep trudging along, making my chicken-feed wages and complaining the whole time about how my job sucks to anyone that will listen. In the past, I would get replies such as: "Yeah, that does suck." "That's rough, man" or even "Sucks to be you!" Recently, though, I've been getting a new response from people: "Well, at least you have a job. Lots of people are losing their jobs, you know."
They say it in a tone that implies that I should somehow feel bad about complaining about my job while people are losing theirs left and right. Do I feel bad? No, not at all, serves them right. This may seem like I'm just being bitter, and maybe I am, but why should I feel bad or sorry about the same jerks who talk on their phones when I ring them up, throw money at me, try to hit me with their cars, feel like they can abuse me or get me fired if I don't kiss ass and generally go out of their way to make my job harder? Sorry, but that's not how it works.
Now it's time for the rich jerks and privileged assholes to get their comeuppance. Don't try to make me feel bad now that you are suddenly now living at or below the poverty line; I've been there for years! I've done my share of hard labor and lost my share of property.
Don't expect the lower class to pity the upper class when they finally fall off their horses. Oh and by the way, to those of you who recently lost you're jobs/houses/lives: You're welcome for the food stamps.
Most Unfortunate
Hmm. You let your hosting payments slip a month because you're switching banks and this is what happens.
I'm not upset so much that I have to use a free blogging service, but rather that I lost all my old posts and other data I had on that server.
Oh well, I guess I could keeping a journal again, not that I had much to say in the first place. Also, I hear that blogging has fallen out of fashion somewhat, due to all the paid blogging and other shady behavior.
We'll see what happens.
